Illumina Pilot Grant Program for Portal Members
Illumina and NUSeq are thrilled to collaborate with the Portal community to accelerate the launch of innovative products.
To support the Portal community in developing the next generation of therapeutics, Illumina will provide a limited quantity of next-gen sequencing reagents at no charge to the NUSeq core facility. As a Portal member, NUSeq will also offer pilot grant awards that include these free reagents and reduced user fees to Portal member companies.
A typical award is expected to provide support for up to 400-800 million sequencing reads. This can be used for up to two samples for sequencing mammalian-sized genomes, 24 samples for whole exome sequencing, 32 samples for bulk RNA-seq, 40 samples for shotgun metagenomics, etc. These are just some examples, and any project that needs sequencing is eligible. NUSeq will also provide free project consultation if needed.
To apply for this pilot program, please submit a proposal using this online form. Please contact NUSeq’s Project Coordinator Skye Scherer with any questions. The submission deadline is May 16, 2025, and award notices will be provided by May 30, 2025. Each company is limited to one entry.
Projects will be evaluated and supported with the reagents and technologies that are best fit to the experimental designs. If Illumina sequencing library prep is requested, the award notice will include a quote for reduced lab fees. Please note that bioinformatics data analysis will be provided if needed but is not covered by this award. NUSeq will make every effort to deliver results in a timely fashion, but please be aware that this is not guaranteed. Awardees must use the Illumina Pilot Grant by December 13, 2025.
