Embryo Cryorecovery
Embryos frozen and frozen/maintain in TTML dewars can be recovered at the request of the investigator at any time.
Embryos received from outside institutions will be thawed according to the protocol provided by the supplier; recovery of viable embryos cannot be guaranteed.
Services include:
- Coordination of embryo shipment
- Thaw, assessment and surgical transfer of viable embryos into recipient females
- Ear tag and tissue biopsy (if necessary) of weanling pups
- Bleeding of recipient females; pathogen testing
- Transfer of SPF pups to your protocol
Costs include embryo thaw and surgery, purchase of wild-type mice used for the project, housing of the surrogate females, and the housing of pups for up to one week post-weaning.
Investigators are responsible for the following costs:
- Shipping costs: all purchase and shipping costs required to obtain embryos
- Housing costs: per diems for weaned pups if mice have not been transferred within one week of wean date
- Pathogen testing: all costs associated with any additional required testing
- Transport costs: all transport costs associated with the transfer of animals to different vivaria
Sperm Cryorecovery
Sperm frozen and stored by the TTML can be recovered at the request of the investigator at any time.
Sperm received from outside institutions will be thawed according to the protocol provided by the supplier; recovery of viable embryos cannot be guaranteed.
Services include:
- Help coordinating shipment of the cryopreserved sperm from outside sources
- purchase of wild-type females for IVF
- IVF using thawed sperm and wild-type oocytes
- Surgical transfer of IVF-generated zygotes directly into recipient females
- Ear tag and tissue biopsy (if necessary) of weanling pups
- Bleeding of recipient females, if necessary, for pathogen testing
- Transfer of SPF pups to your protocol
