Description of Interests

The Engman Laboratory conducts research in several areas: (1) Molecular genetics and cell biology of tropical parasitic infections with a focus on trypanosomes, single-celled eukaryotic pathogens causing including African Sleeping Sickness, Chagas Disease and Leishmaniasis. (2) Drug discovery for parasitic diseases, using genomic and genetic approaches. (3) Pathogenesis and treatment of cardiac infections and inflammatory conditions. (4) Biomarker discovery for cancer, a translational research effort of the NMH Diagnostic Molecular Biology Laboratory.
