Gene Expression Profiling


Illumina gene expression technology detects biotinylated cRNA transcripts that are hybridized to beadchip probes. Beadchips are available for human and mouse probes.

Degraded or compromised RNA samples (such as RNA isolated from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples) can also be processed for gene expression microarrays using the Illumina cDNA-mediated Annealing, Selections, Extension and Ligation (DASL) system. This technology allows for repair of degraded RNAs prior to amplification and hybridization on gene expression beadchips. For more information on this technology, see the Illumina website.

Affymetrix GeneChips can be used for in-depth analysis of individual samples to explore expression levels and alternative splicing.
